RVP SENDS BEST WISHES TO GVB
Ex-Arsenal and Manchester United attacker Robin Van Persie (RVP) was delighted with the appointment of Giovanni Van Bronckhorst (GVB) as the Rangers manager. To this effect, Robin Van Persie used his official Twitter handle to send his best wishes after Van Bronckhorst replaced Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard as the new Rangers manager.
Van Bronckhorst, 46, was officially unveiled as the Rangers manager and he has made a great start to his managerial career at Ibrox. The retired Dutch national team star is the 17th permanent manager at Rangers and he has some work to do to emulate the 16th permanent manager, Steven Gerrard.
Gerrard ended the domestic dominance of Celtic last season as his Rangers side went through the whole season without a single defeat on the way to winning the Scottish Premiership title.
Robin Van Persie is not a stranger to new Rangers boss Giovanni Van Bronckhorst as they shared the same dressing room in the colours of the Dutch senior national team. Also, Van Bronckhorst coached Van Persie during his playing career as he signed him for Dutch club football giants Feyenoord in January 2018. Van Bronckhorst was the man who facilitate the return of Robin Van Persie to boyhood club Feyenoord.
While Van Bronckhorst was the Feyenoord manager, Robin Van Persie helped his boyhood club to win the 2017/18 Dutch Cup title. Robin Van Persie scored one of the goals as Feyenoordthrashed AZ Alkmaar 3-0 in the 2018 Dutch Cup final to seal the aforementioned Dutch Cup title. As a matter of fact, Robin Van Persie ended his career as a professional footballer while Van Bronckhorst was the Feyenoord. His last game was against ADO Den Haag over two years ago. Apart from Feyenoord, Van Persie also played for Turkish giants Galatasaray, Arsenal and Manchester United.
