Van Persie Backs Up New Manager, Van Gaal

Robin van Persie has once again spoken about the next Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal. It is really expected that van Persie will become the club’s most important player next season onwards when van Gaal becomes the club manager. It has been well known that the striker shares great relationship with the Dutchman, but he has spoken about it in public for the first time in detail. Despite playing for some of the top managers in the world like Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson in his stellar career, van Persie says that he has never enjoyed a better relationship with any other manager than van Gaal.

This comes as a major compliment to the 62-year-old, who is widely expected to name the 30-year-old striker as the captain of United. He will be stepping down from his post at the end of the World Cup 2014. Both player and manager were pictured having a laugh during the training sessions ahead of the friendly match with Peru. Netherlands have been on a poor run of form in the last four friendly matches, but these are widely not taken into account since managers usually test the squad players in these matches.

"I never had a relationship with a coach like I have with Van Gaal - it's very special. We have had fantastic talks in the past two years. From minute one we got along well. Every training is very intense. He is on our backs every minute. There is no space to relax, he demands full focus. We work very hard for a maximum one hour 15 minutes, never longer. But these 75 minutes are enormously intense. Everybody gets better. I see it every day now during the World Cup preparation,” said the striker.
