MANCINI PREFERS CAVANI

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has said that even though he is a big fan of Arsenal striker Robin van Persie, he has said that Napoli striker Edinson Cavani would be the most likely target to arrive at the club this summer.

After spending huge sums of money on many players in the last few transfer windows, Manchester City have been extremely quiet so far in the summer. They have been linked with a move for Belgian midfielder Eden Hazard, but decided to not compete with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United for his signature. They are also strongly linked with Arsenal striker Robin van Persie, but Mancini recently indicated that he is not sure whether the deal may go through or not.

One of the main reasons for Manchester City not showing a lot of interest in a number of players is due to the huge number of players that they already have on the books. The club needs to sell a majority of the players in order to balance the books in such a way that the wage bill is reduced. There is no way Manchester City will be able to comply with the new financial fair play regulations with the current wage bill.

'Cavani is a Napoli player - it's impossible to take him. Van Persie is an Arsenal player, I won't say anything. Kolarov is a great full back and a great person. I would like to keep him. Many teams want our players, which means we have done a good job. I want Aleksandr to stay and I know his value," said Mancini in a recent press conference. It is thought that Manchester City will not be willing to pay more than £ 15 million for Robin van Persie, which is an amount that is unlikely to be accepted by Arsenal.
