VAN PERSIE NAMES HIS BEST PLAYERS
Former Premier League striker Robin Van Persie has named the best players that he starred with during his time in the English top flight as he opted for four Manchester United players and two Arsenal players. Robin Van Persie mentioned the six players while he was on BBC Sports.
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is the all-time leading goalscorer for the Gunners and he played alongside Robin Van Persiein North London for many years. Henry and Van Persie were in the Arsenal team that won the 2005 FA Cup final before they lost the 2006 Champions League final to Spanish giants Barcelona together.
It's not surprising that Henry made the list of best players from Van Persie. Apart from the Frenchman, the other Arsenal player mentioned by the Dutchman was compatriot Dennis Bergkamp who retired at Arsenal shortly after the Champions League final in Paris in 2006.
Apart from the Arsenal duo of Bergkamp and Henry, Robin Van Persie also mentioned the Manchester United quartet of Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Wayne Rooney.
Van Persie played alongside the likes of Rooney, Scholes and Giggs, while compatriot van Nistelrooy had already left the Red Devils by the time he joined the club at the start of the 2012/13 season.
However, he played with van Nistelrooyfor the Dutch national team.
Dutchman Robin Van Persie enjoyed a very good career in the Premier League in the colours of Arsenal and Manchester United. While he was at Arsenal, the Dutchman won the 2004/05 FA Cup title only in almost a decade and that prompted him to seal a controversial move to Manchester United. The Red Devils paid around £24m to secure his transfer in 2012 when he had a year left on his contract with the Gunners. He fired Manchester United to the Premier League title in his first season at the club.
