ARSENAL: WILSHERE REVEALS HIS PARTNERSHIP WITH RVP
Jack Wilshere has revealed how he worked with Robin Van Persie (RVP) to unlock opposition defences before games. The ex-Arsenal midfielder talked about his partnership with Robin Van in a chat on TalkSPORT. According to him, RVP used to put him under pressure during gamesin his debut season at Arsenal since he was one of the most established players in the team at the time
Wilshere, 29, revealed how he would discuss ball delivery with Robin Van Persie and how to get the better of opponents a day before games. Speaking further, Wilshere said that discussions would be made on ball delivery type and on whether he wants to come short or go long. Both Wilshere and Van Persie also discusses on if the latter would want it over the top.
Robin Van Persie was a consistent goalscorer at Arsenal whenever he was not injured. The Dutchman had various injury issues at the start of his Gunners career, but he was able to overcome those injury issues in the final few years of his time at the Emirates Stadium. Van Persie scored 132 goals in 278 games for Arsenal before he controversially left the club to sign for rivals Manchester United in the summer of 2012. The Red Devils paid around £24m to secure his transfer from the Gunners. In total, Van Persie scored 272 goals in 593 games over the course of his career.
RVP went in search of trophies at Manchester United and he was able to fire the team to the Premier League title in his first season at the club. The ex-Dutch national team star scored 26 goals for Manchester United on the way to winning the Premier League title. Manchester United have not won any other league title since then. It was also the last league title won by legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson who retired in 2013. Ferguson won the league title in his last season thanks in part to Van Persie.
