VAN PERSIE HAILS UNITED MIDFIELDER FERNANDES
Former Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has heaped a lot of praise on the club's current star midfielder Bruno Fernandes and says the Portugal international midfielder is a gem. Fernandes was signed by United from Portuguese league side Sporting Lisbon in January last year and he has proven to be a remarkable signing and worth every penny since his arrival. He came in at United at a time when Paul Pogba was injured and the team needed someone who could bring balance to the team.
He arrived and handled that role very effectively, earning a lot of praise and applause from the Red Devils' fans and former players as well. One of those former players who has now joined the list of Fernandes' fans, in the person of Van Persie, says the former Sporting Lisbon Manis no ordinary player and would suit into the playing pattern of any football team in the world.
Van Persie says he admires how Fernandes plays and how he makes his runs because they are similar to how a striker makes his runs. Van Persie also added that he would have loved to have worked with the midfielder during his time at Old Trafford because he would have scored a lot more goals fr the club due to how much of a good passer of the ball Fernandes is.
The Portuguese midfielder recently scored two goals and provided two assists on Thursday as he helped Manchester United cruise to a huge 6-2 win against AS Roma in the UEFA Europa League semi-final first leg despite first going 2-1 down at half-time.
He will now be looking to play a part in helping the Red Devils get the job done when they travel to Italy to play the return leg of the game as they continue to look for their first trophy under Solksjær
