Fenerbahce forward Van Persie Considering Feyenoord Return
Former Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie could be on the move once again if reports are to be believed.
The striker used to play for Feyenoord before coming to English football with Arsenal. After spending a number of years with the gunners, the Dutchman made the move to Manchester United and it brought him the sole Premier League title of his career. However, his time at Old Trafford did not last long as Van Persie was on the move once again after signing for Fenerbahce. He has been with the Turkish club since 2015, but it has not been a productive spell so far.
Van Persie is yet to win a major honour with Fenerbahce despite having been at the club for almost 2 years. Still only 33 years old, he has a couple of years of top level football lifted him considering that he has been playing regularly at the top of the game only since the 2008-09 campaign. Many of the Dutch players prefer to come home rather than play abroad at the likes of a MLS club or in the Chinese league.
It seems that Van Persie is no different, as he has been linked with a return to Feyenoord. The Dutch outfit have been table leaders in the Dutch Eredivisie this season, but this form has largely been down to Dirk Kuyt, who at 36 years of age is coming to the end of his career.
“Coming back to Netherlands is becoming an increasingly more serious option. And then only at Feyenoord or Excelsior,” said Van Persie about his future. The 33-year-old could be a perfect replacement for Kuyt once the former Liverpool forward decides to step down. In terms of trophies, Van Persie has had a less than successful career after winning the FA Cup, Premier League, and the UEFA cup throughout his career.
