CLOSE TO THE TITLE

After scoring in the 1-0 win over Sunderland in the weekend, Manchester United are almost close to securing the title according to striker Robin van Persie. As a result of this victory, United maintain their 15 point advantage at the top of the table with only seven matches remaining. Even though there is still the Manchester Derby between now and the end of the season, many feel that this 15 point advantage will be good enough to see the team through to the 20th Premier league title.

Van Persie's shot was deflected off the defender Titus Bramble, as United scored the only goal of the game. After the match, the Dutchman said that he is not worried about who scored the goal as long as United managed to get the three points. Van Persie's goals have been a huge factor in United taking this huge lead in the title. He is the second-highest scorer in the division behind the Liverpool striker, Luis Suarez. Van Persie has 19 goals in the league to his name this season.

The 29-year-old said that they fully deserved the three points against Sunderland, but it was not the easiest match because the relegation threatened opposition gave a full fight before conceding the goal.

"We got the three points, we knew it would be tough because Sunderland work hard and we had to dig in, but we deserved it. It didn't matter who scored today, it was all about the three points. This team is full of winners, everyone knows what they have to do and it was never in doubt for me. I was confident we would win. We played some good football today, even if we didn't get as many goalscoring opportunities as we'd have liked," said van Persie after the match. United's next Premier league match will be the Manchester Derby.
