CHINESE SIDE DENY INTEREST IN RVP

Chinese Super League side Hebei China Fortune have denied interest in Dutch striker Robin van Persie.

Reports were rife that the former Arsenal and Manchester United man would move to China for big money. The 33-year old has just a year left on his deal with Fernerbahce.

RVP was linked with a move from the Turkish giant. Feyenoord, Chinese sides and a few small clubs in England were rumoured to be likely destination. Hebei came out to deny links to the player.

“Our club hereby solemnly declare that we have never approached Van Persie. All of this is pure rumours and hopefully gossip dies when it hits a wise person’s ears,” the club said in a statement.

RVP had said recently that he does not know his next move. He said the upcoming weeks would decide how things happen. He says he would return to Fener next month as he has a valid contract with the club.

RVP hinted that something was in the pipeline when he spoke to De Telegraaf. He claimed things can quickly change in football so the rumour mill had a field day linking him with different potential sides.

Since his move from Old Trafford in 2015, he has been with Fenerbahce. He has had a mixed stay in Turkey. He netted nine times in 24 Super Lig games in the 2016/17 season. As it stands he would play in Turkey in the forthcoming season but a new deal is unlikely.
